Many exhibits have a beach focus, noteably  an excellent collection surfwear dating from  the late 1800's and photographs by Ray Leighton.
Important : The Gallery has previously displayed a pre 1930’s (probably pre 1900’s) solid wood Hawaiian Alaia, approximately 8 ft 6”.
It has been suggested   that this board may be the board brought back to Australia by  C.D. Paterson of Manly in 1908 - 1912 (Australian Longboard Magazine 2003?)
In poor condition it was on loan from Barry Bennett (Surfboards).
