DESIGN 3 GARRY KEYS HULL dimensions: 5'4" x 18 1/2'' pretty thick . . . 3 3/4" Rails are high up front to low at back. Hull is for safety ... so you can use the high part of the wave. The top speed is through the top arc. It is best for hollow waves and likes plenty of power to operate to its full extent. A major portion of the bottom is dead flat and dead straight. You ride with the back foot in a line directly over the fin. The plan shape follows a parabolic curve and the back edge has a slight trim tab to maintain optimum power. Shaped and glassed and sanded and stickered by Garry. [Wilderness Surfboards] |
GLYNN RITCHIE'S SHOOTER dimensions: 5'10"x 19" widest point 3 3/4" in front of halfway coming back into a nice tapering round tail. Full on low rails front to back. Ruler flat across front to back. Used full blank thickness and took foam off the bottom at the back to give tail lift but keep the flatness. Designed for Lennox . . . built in the country .. . self shaped and glassed . .. did everything. Really rips at Lennox - driving wall sort of board. If it hasn't got it, it doesn't go. Not too good in Sydney. In the process of redesigning off this board for Sydney and South Coast. Taking a lot of curves off this shooter, but widening and shortening. [Peter Clarke Surfboards] |
PETER CRAWFORD'S BELLY
BOARD dimensions: 5'7" x 22 1/4" widest point 5/8 from the 11" tail slightly rounded off. Rails are completely round right to the back. Thickness follows the same flow as the rails . .. thick towards the nose then thinning towards the tail. Approximately 3 1/4" at thickest point. Considered long for a belly board but designed for Sydney surf... and the stability that is required to ride 3' chop. Performance is excellent in any kind of surf... you can ride out onto walls where spoons tend to stay in the curl. The board has a wave set fin box to allow easy tuning of the fin and versatility of choice The board is designed to ride any sort of surf from 2' to 12'. It's not limited in any way, but likes DY Point with a bit of power in the curl. [Wallace Surfboards] |
