Introduction. A
Strangest of
aquatic vehicles is a motorized surf board, invented by a Sydney, Australia,
mechanic and built during his spare hours. He proposes its
use for life-saving, since the speedy device would quickly reach a swimmer
not to far from shore. The motor is
encased in a protective housing and is capable of driving the craft at
considerable speed. The board is
so bouyant it will support the weight of two or three persons in case of
an emergency. It can be operated
in shallow water and would not be easlily tipped by high waves, as would
an ordinary rowboat.
An Australian
built this surfboard which is powered with a motor.
